How to Hydroponics – S02E11 Blackstrap Molasses

On a quest for some sweeter tasting fruit I try adding some Blackstrap Molasses to the hydroponic reservoir. I did notice a slightly sweeter taste a few weeks later but I think more tests would be needed to compare. The only downside I've noticed to adding this stuff into my reservoir is that it dropped the PH quite a bit. Not something I would add all the time maybe just now and then. The previous video in this series was How To Clone Plants www.youtube.com

Hydroponics refers to the process of growing plants in water without the use of any soil, and a number of plants that are mass-marketed are grown hydroponically. Grow a plant from the seed using hydroponics with help from a sustainable gardener in this free video on gardening and plant care.

I’ve never tried this stuff but i have used a couple of the sweeteners out there with pretty good results. GH FloraBlend seems to add some sweetness too.

Hi, nice videos and good info! Thanks a lot.

Have you tried compost tea? I made it before and used it outdoor as a fertilizer spray, but it might be an idea to try for hydro use since it is extracted from compost and takes the beneficial micro organisms into the solution. You have to add molasses to feed the micos. Anyways, just an idea that you might be interested in.

    Keep up the good work!

“Cool” and “warm” lights don’t refer to how hot the lights are. It refers to the COLOR of the light. Light in the red part of the spectrum is called “warm”, and blue light is called “cool”. “Growing medium” is not the CONTAINER–it’s what the plants are anchored in–soil, vermiculite, sand, etc. (includes solely water). So, once I get “water, medium, lights and some plants”, I’m growing hydroponically! That really explains it so clearly!
